Description

We stock this 12W Triac dimmable LED driver as a constant current power supply for LED panels, downlights and strip lighting that need regulated current. It delivers up to 300mA and takes 180-240V AC 50Hz mains input, converting it to a 23-40V DC output to suit most low-voltage LED arrays rated for 300mA. Built-in Triac dimming circuitry lets it work with a standard phase-cut dimmer fitted on the mains side, and the compact white plastic housing measures 85mm in diameter and 40mm in height.

We would fit this driver out of sight above a ceiling void, inside a lighting canopy or behind a panel where the unit itself is not seen. It carries an IP54 rating, which protects the circuitry from dust ingress and light splashing, though it is still an indoor component rather than a fully weatherproof one. Its small footprint lets it sit in shallow ceiling voids and behind narrow lamp housings where a larger driver would not fit. Four colour-coded wires exit the housing: blue and brown for AC input, black and red for DC output to the LED load.

The driver operates across a wide -45 degrees C to +85 degrees C ambient range and carries a power factor of 0.9, which keeps distortion on the supply low. Maximum output is 12W. The Triac dimming function needs a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer on the AC input side, and not every dimmer runs smoothly with this driver, so we recommend testing your chosen dimmer for flicker-free performance. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified electrician as part of your LED installation.

Frequently Asked

Is this LED driver dimmable?

Yes. It has built-in Triac dimming, so it dims from a standard phase-cut dimmer fitted on the mains side. Use a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer, and test it for flicker-free performance before final fitting.

What can I run from it?

It suits LED panels, downlights and strip lighting rated for up to 300mA. It gives a 23-40V DC output from a 180-240V AC input, with a maximum output of 12W, so match the connected load within that limit.

Where can I install it?

It is an indoor component with an IP54 rating that protects it from dust and light splashing. We would site it above a ceiling void, inside a lighting canopy or behind a panel where it stays hidden, rather than in an exposed outdoor position.

How is it wired?

Four colour-coded wires exit the housing: blue and brown for the AC input, and black and red for the DC output to the LED load. It should be wired in by a qualified electrician.
