Description

This ESP 12V 2800mAh nickel-cadmium battery pack consists of ten individual Ni-Cd cells wired in parallel configuration to deliver 12V nominal output with 2800mAh capacity. The pack comes with a pre-fitted wiring harness terminated in a standard connector, visible as red and black leads in the image, and metal mounting tabs at each end for secure installation.

Designed primarily for emergency lighting systems, exit signs, fire alarm panels and backup power applications where reliable rechargeable performance is required under cycling and standby conditions. Ni-Cd chemistry tolerates deep discharge and recharge cycles better than many alternatives, making it a common choice for systems that may sit on standby for extended periods before being called into use. The parallel configuration distributes load across multiple cells, improving longevity under high-draw conditions.

The white PVC shrink-wrap enclosing the cell pack provides insulation and mechanical protection, with the cell specification printed directly onto the surface: Ni-Cd C2800mAh 12V (H)CE with a production date code. At 0.72kg net weight the pack is light enough for wall-mounted emergency fittings but substantial enough to deliver meaningful runtime. The metal mounting tabs accept M4 or M5 fixings and the connector at the cable end mates with standard ESP emergency lighting control gear.

Frequently Asked

What is the difference between parallel and series Ni-Cd packs?

Parallel configuration wires multiple cells together to increase capacity (mAh) while maintaining the same voltage. Series configuration increases voltage but keeps capacity the same. This 12V 2800mAh pack uses parallel wiring to deliver higher capacity at 12V nominal output.

What applications suit this battery pack?

Emergency lighting systems, exit signs, fire alarm panels and backup power supplies where the system needs to operate from battery during mains failure. The Ni-Cd chemistry handles standby charging and deep discharge cycling reliably.

Can this replace a lead-acid battery of the same voltage?

Not directly. Ni-Cd and lead-acid require different charging profiles and voltages. This pack is designed for use with Ni-Cd-compatible charging circuits found in ESP emergency lighting control gear. Using it with lead-acid charging equipment will damage the cells.

How is the battery installed?

The metal mounting tabs at each end of the pack accept M4 or M5 fixings. The pre-fitted wiring harness plugs directly into compatible ESP control gear via the standard connector. Polarity is indicated by the red (positive) and black (negative) wire colours.
