Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides independent control of extractor fans in bathrooms, utility rooms and en-suites while keeping lighting circuits active. The triple-pole switching isolates the fan unit at the wall without requiring separate access to consumer units or ceiling voids, allowing safe maintenance or replacement of the fan itself. The brushed brass faceplate and matching metal rocker sit 2.5mm proud of the wall in an ultra-low profile flat plate design.

Designed for residential bathroom installations, the switch fits a 16mm minimum mounting box depth and carries a 10A rating at 230V 50Hz. The triple-pole configuration means live, neutral and switched live are all isolated when the rocker is in the off position, providing full disconnection rather than single-pole live-only isolation. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and EN 60669-2-4, confirming compliance with general switch safety standards and specific requirements for isolating switches.

The brushed brass finish on premium-grade steel provides a warm metallic tone that pairs with traditional brass tapware, mirror frames and towel rails in bathrooms and with classical joinery in period properties. The flat plate design reduces projection from the wall compared to standard-depth switches, giving a cleaner profile on tiled surfaces. A built-in gasket sits between the faceplate and the wall to seal minor surface irregularities and provide a flush appearance on painted or tiled substrates.

Frequently Asked

What does triple-pole switching mean?

Triple-pole switches isolate live, neutral and switched live conductors when turned off, providing full disconnection of the fan circuit. This allows the fan to be safely removed or serviced without switching off the lighting circuit or accessing the consumer unit.

What mounting box depth is needed?

A 16mm minimum mounting box depth is required. The flat plate design reduces projection to just 2.5mm from the wall surface once installed, making it suitable for shallow wall cavities and tiled bathroom surfaces.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP20 rating means the switch is suitable for use in bathroom zones outside the direct splash zones (typically outside zones 0, 1 and 2). It is commonly installed in bathrooms to control ceiling-mounted extractor fans, positioned on walls away from baths and shower enclosures.

Does the rocker match the faceplate finish?

Yes. The metal rocker is finished in the same brushed brass as the faceplate, giving a cohesive appearance across the entire switch rather than contrasting plastic rockers found on some competing designs.
