Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way toggle switch provides four independent lighting circuits controlled by matching brushed brass metal toggles on a flat plate measuring 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high. Each toggle is rated at 10AX, handling lighting loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains. The 2-way switching allows each circuit to be controlled from two separate locations, typically used in rooms with two entrances or at the top and bottom of a staircase.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where multiple lighting circuits converge at a single wall position, the switch suits hallways, open-plan living areas, and period properties where four-gang control is needed without the bulk of a traditional plate. The ultra-low 2.5mm projection from the wall gives a near-flush finish that minimises shadow lines and pairs well with contemporary interiors. The switch requires a minimum 16mm mounting box depth, making it compatible with shallow back boxes where stud wall depth is limited.

The flat plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a brushed brass finish that develops a natural patina over time, darkening slightly as the brass oxidises. The four metal toggles match the plate finish and provide tactile feedback when switched. A built-in gasket sits between the plate and the wall surface, reducing dust ingress and improving the seal around the switch aperture. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry internal locations.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows each of the four lighting circuits to be controlled from two separate wall positions. This is typically used in rooms with two doorways, or at the top and bottom of stairs, so the lights can be switched on or off from either location.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm mounting box depth is needed. The ultra-low profile flat plate design means the switch can be installed in shallow back boxes where stud wall depth is limited, without requiring deep chases in masonry.

Will the brass finish tarnish?

Brushed brass is a living finish that develops a natural patina over time as the brass oxidises. The finish darkens slightly with age and handling. This is a characteristic of natural brass, not a defect, and can be maintained or accelerated depending on preference.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces the Flat Plate range in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black, white and stainless steel. Use the search function or filters to find other finishes in stock at Niori.
