Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way switch controls three independent lighting circuits from a single faceplate, with each rocker rated at 10A (2,300W per circuit on 230V mains). The brushed chrome faceplate has a rounded edge profile with visible screw fixings and matching metal rockers that sit flush with the plate surface.

Designed for rooms with multiple lighting zones, the 3-gang configuration allows independent switching of three different circuits from one wall position. Each gang operates as a 2-way switch, meaning it can be paired with another 2-way switch elsewhere in the room to control the same light from two locations. This works for hallways, staircases and larger rooms where lights need to be controlled from both entry and exit points.

The rounded-edge plate sits 7.5mm proud of the wall once fitted and requires a minimum 16mm back box depth for installation. A built-in gasket between the plate and the wall surface provides IP20 dust ingress protection. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and meets EN 60669-1 safety certification. The brushed chrome finish has a directional grain that softens reflections under direct light and pairs with modern and contemporary interiors.

What does 2-way switching mean?

Each gang on this switch can be wired as part of a 2-way circuit, allowing the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions in the room. This requires a second 2-way switch wired to the same lighting circuit, typically at the opposite end of a hallway or on another wall in the same room.

What's the difference between 10AX and 10A rating?

10AX indicates the switch is rated for 10 amps on AC (alternating current) circuits and is suitable for inductive loads like fluorescent or LED drivers. A plain 10A rating typically applies to resistive loads only. The AX rating provides broader compatibility with modern lighting types.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. Most standard UK single-gang metal back boxes are 25mm or 35mm deep, so this switch fits comfortably in typical residential installations without needing a deeper box.

Is this a screwless faceplate?
