Description

The Knightsbridge CL3BC is a 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch with a brushed chrome rounded-edge faceplate and two matching brushed chrome metal rockers. The 2-way configuration allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions, making it suited to staircases, hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.

The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for cable connections. The rounded-edge plate sits 7.5mm proud of the wall once fitted, with a square faceplate measuring 85.75mm on each side. The brushed chrome finish shows directional grain that reduces fingerprint visibility and pairs with contemporary, transitional and modern classical interiors.

Each gang is rated at 10AX, handling resistive loads up to 2,300W at 230V. The steel construction carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and includes a gasket behind the faceplate for additional moisture resistance in areas where condensation may occur but full bathroom/wet room protection is not required. Knightsbridge backs the switch with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

A 2-way switch allows the same light or lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions. This is typically used on staircases where switches are needed at both the top and bottom, or in hallways and bedrooms with entry points at opposite ends of the room.

What's the difference between 10AX and 10A rating?

10AX indicates the switch is rated for 10 amps on inductive loads (fluorescent, LED with transformers) and can handle higher inrush currents than a standard 10A switch. This makes it more suitable for modern lighting circuits with multiple LED fittings or electronic transformers.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. The switch sits 7.5mm proud of the wall once fitted, giving a total projection of approximately 23.5mm from the plasterboard or wall surface.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this switch is suitable for dry indoor areas only. It includes a gasket for moisture resistance but is not rated for bathroom zones where direct water contact or high humidity levels occur. For bathrooms, specify a switch with IP44 or higher rating.
