Description

The Knightsbridge SN127R is a 10AX 1-gang SP 2-way retractive architrave switch in white thermoset resin with a 'PRESS' label on the rocker. The retractive mechanism returns the rocker to its original position once released, providing a momentary press-to-make action rather than a latching switch. This makes it suitable for door entry systems, bell pushes, stairwell lighting timers and dimming control when paired with compatible dimmer modules.

Designed for architrave mounting where standard switch widths will not fit, the switch measures 86mm high by 32mm wide with a 9mm plate thickness. It requires a minimum 16mm back box depth, making it compatible with shallow pattress boxes used in door frames, narrow wall sections and partition walls. The SP (single-pole) 2-way configuration allows it to be wired as part of a two-way lighting circuit or as a standalone momentary switch depending on application.

The white thermoset resin construction provides mechanical strength and heat resistance across commercial and residential installations. The 10AX rating handles switching loads up to 2,300W on 230V 50Hz circuits, suitable for controlling multiple lamps or interfacing with relay packs. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from moisture ingress. The anti-microbial properties in the resin reduce surface bacteria growth, making the switch suitable for healthcare, hospitality and food preparation environments where hygiene standards apply.

Frequently Asked

What is a retractive switch used for?

A retractive switch provides momentary contact while pressed and returns to its original position when released. Common applications include door entry systems, bell pushes, stairwell timer switches and interfacing with dimming modules that require a pulse input rather than a latching on/off signal.

What back box depth is required?

The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth. This shallow requirement makes it compatible with architrave pattress boxes used in door frames and partition walls where standard 25mm or 35mm back boxes will not fit.

Can it be used as a dimmer switch?

The switch itself does not dim — it provides only a momentary press-to-make contact. However, it can interface with compatible dimmer packs or modules that accept a retractive input to control dimming functions via repeated presses.

What does SP 2-way mean?

SP means single-pole (only the live conductor is switched). 2-way refers to the terminal configuration, allowing the switch to be wired as part of a two-way lighting circuit with another switch, or as a standalone momentary switch depending on the wiring used.
