Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang SP 2-way key switch uses a key-operated mechanism to control a single circuit, providing secure access control where only authorised users should be able to switch lighting or power on and off. The white rounded-edge plate has a 7mm curved profile and an anti-microbial surface finish that resists bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces.

Designed for schools, hospitals, public buildings and commercial premises where circuit control needs to be restricted, the key switch fits a standard 16mm minimum back box depth and supports single-pole 2-way wiring configurations. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W at 230V, suitable for lighting circuits, display lighting and similar low-to-medium draw applications where key access is required.

The thermoset resin construction provides durability under repeated key operation and cleaning with standard hygiene products. The white finish pairs with standard white switch and socket ranges, and the rounded-edge profile softens the visual presence on walls compared to sharper-edged traditional switch plates. The IP20 rating limits use to indoor dry locations. Each switch is supplied with one key.

What does SP 2-way mean?

SP means single-pole (it switches the live conductor only). 2-way allows the circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations when wired with a second switch in a 2-way configuration, or it can be used as a simple on/off switch in 1-way wiring.

Can extra keys be ordered?

Knightsbridge key switches use a standard barrel mechanism. Replacement or additional keys can be ordered through Knightsbridge directly or matched to the key code stamped on the barrel if visible during installation.

What's the anti-microbial finish?

The white thermoset resin plate incorporates an anti-microbial additive that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This makes the switch suitable for healthcare, education and food-preparation environments where hygiene standards are high.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the switch is designed for indoor dry locations only and has no protection against moisture ingress.
