Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch is a single-gang light switch with a brushed chrome rounded edge faceplate and matching brushed chrome rocker. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, making it suitable for controlling most domestic and commercial lighting circuits including LED, halogen and fluorescent loads.

Two-way switching allows the same light or circuit to be controlled from two different locations, such as opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of a staircase. The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for secure wiring. The built-in gasket seals the faceplate against the wall surface, preventing dust ingress behind the plate and giving a flush finish.

The faceplate is pressed from premium-grade steel with a brushed chrome finish that resists fingerprints and pairs well with stainless steel kitchen appliances, chrome door handles and contemporary bathroom fittings. The rounded edge softens the profile where the plate meets the wall, creating a gentler visual transition than squared edges. Certified to EN 60669-1 safety standards and IP20 rated for indoor dry locations.

What is the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?

A 2-way switch allows a single light or circuit to be controlled from two different wall locations, such as either end of a corridor. A 1-way switch can only control the circuit from a single position. Two-way switches have three terminals (common, L1, L2) rather than the two terminals found on 1-way switches.

What does 10AX mean?

The 10AX rating indicates the switch can handle up to 10 amperes of current. On 230V mains this equals a maximum load of 2,300W, which is sufficient for most domestic lighting circuits including LED, halogen and fluorescent fittings.
