Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator module is a triple-pole switching module finished in brushed brass, designed to control extractor fans in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front, allowing the faceplate to be installed without removing the frame from the wall. The triple-pole mechanism isolates live, neutral and switch-wire simultaneously, providing a complete disconnect when the fan is switched off.
The isolator sits within a single-width grid module slot (25mm wide), making it compatible with 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang Knightsbridge grid frames in matching finishes. The rocker switch is marked 'FAN Isolator' with ON and OFF positions clearly indicated, and the raised rocker profile provides tactile feedback. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations, with the module rated for 10A at 230V and a conditional short-circuit current (Inc) of 1500A.
The brushed brass finish is applied to the metal rocker face, providing a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional brass hardware, warm timber cabinetry and heritage-style interiors. The module body is ABS with internal steel components, giving a lightweight 7mm front projection once clipped into the frame. The 25mm minimum back box depth accommodates standard UK wiring with three-core cable to the fan.

Frequently Asked
What grid frame do I need?
The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. For a single isolator, use a 1-gang frame. Multiple modules can be combined in 2-gang, 3-gang or 4-gang frames. The frame must match the finish for a coordinated appearance.
What does triple-pole switching mean?
Triple-pole isolates live, neutral and the switch-wire to the fan simultaneously. This provides a complete disconnect when switched off, unlike single-pole switching which only isolates the live conductor.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating suits dry indoor zones. In bathrooms, install the isolator outside Zone 1 and Zone 2 (typically on the wall outside the shower enclosure or bath area), where moisture exposure is minimal.
Is the module removable once clipped in?
Yes. The module clips into the grid frame from the front and can be removed by pressing the release tabs on either side of the module body, allowing replacement or reconfiguration without disturbing the frame wiring.
