Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator key switch module is a triple-pole isolator with a removable key mechanism, designed to control bathroom or kitchen extract fans whilst restricting operation to authorised users. The module measures one grid width (25mm) and clips into a grid mounting frame (sold separately) which then fits a standard 25mm back box. The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent suited to traditional and transitional interiors.
Designed for residential and hospitality installations where ventilation control needs to be locked off when not required, the key switch is typically used to isolate ceiling fans in bathrooms, utility rooms or kitchens. The triple-pole configuration isolates live, neutral and earth, providing a complete break in the circuit when switched to the off position. The key can be removed in either on or off position, allowing the fan to be left running whilst preventing unauthorised switching.
The module is part of Knightsbridge's grid range, which allows multiple switches, sockets and control modules to be combined in a single frame. The brushed brass faceplate is constructed from ABS plastic with a steel bracket, finished to match other Knightsbridge brushed brass grid accessories. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry internal zones only — this module is not suitable for bathroom zones 1 or 2 where water contact is possible.

Frequently Asked
Does this module require a separate mounting frame?
Yes. The module clips into a grid mounting frame which is sold separately. Grid frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang and larger configurations depending on how many modules you need to install together.
What is the advantage of a triple-pole isolator over a standard switch?
Triple-pole isolates live, neutral and earth simultaneously, providing a complete break in the electrical circuit. This is the required configuration for fan isolators under UK wiring regulations, particularly for bathroom extract fans.
Can the key be removed in both positions?
Yes. The key can be removed when the switch is in either the on or off position, allowing the fan to be left running and locked on, or locked off to prevent unauthorised use.
Is this suitable for bathroom installation?
The IP20 rating means it can only be installed outside bathroom zones 1 and 2 — typically on a wall outside the bathroom itself or in a dry zone 3 area where direct water contact is not possible. It is commonly used to control a bathroom extract fan from outside the bathroom door.
