The Knightsbridge 1-gang grid faceplate is an 88x88mm brushed chrome screwless cover plate designed to fit over a single-gang modular grid frame. The plate provides the visible finished surface for grid switch installations, where individual switch or socket modules clip into a separate metal grid frame behind the faceplate.

Used in residential and commercial installations where a modular switching layout is required, the faceplate pairs with Knightsbridge's 1-gang grid frame (GDS001F, sold separately) to accommodate one or two standard grid modules — typically a light switch, dimmer, data outlet or other compatible module. The screwless design clips onto the frame without visible fixings, giving a cleaner wall finish than traditional screw-fixed plates.

The brushed chrome finish is a directional satin surface that softens reflections and coordinates with the wider Knightsbridge screwless switches and sockets range. The premium-grade steel construction provides rigidity without warping over time, and the 3.5mm projection from the wall keeps the faceplate low-profile once installed. This faceplate is designed to clip onto a Knightsbridge 1-gang grid frame (model GDS001F, sold separately). The frame is fixed to the back box first, then the individual grid modules clip into the frame, and finally this faceplate clips over the top to conceal the frame and fixings.

How many modules can fit behind a 1-gang faceplate?

A 1-gang grid frame typically accommodates one or two standard grid modules depending on their width. A single 2-module-wide switch or dimmer fills the frame, or two 1-module-wide items can sit side by side.

Is the faceplate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The screwless cover plate clips onto the grid frame and can be removed without tools by gently prising it away from the frame. This allows for painting or wallpapering around the switch without disturbing the wiring, and the plate can be re-clipped once decorating is complete.
