Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang blanking plate covers unused electrical back boxes behind a brushed brass flat plate with a built-in gasket. The plate measures 87.5mm square with a 2.5mm projection from the wall, making it one of the lowest-profile blanking plates available for covering redundant switch positions or cable entry points that are no longer in use.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the plate fits standard 25mm single-gang back boxes and provides an IP20-rated seal when fitted with the integrated gasket. The two visible fixing screws are brass-plated to match the faceplate. An earth terminal is included inside the plate for safe grounding of the metal box behind.

The premium-grade steel plate carries a brushed brass finish with a horizontal grain that softens reflections and pairs well with other brushed brass accessories in the same room. The flat plate design means there is no raised border or stepped edge, so the plate sits flush within the wall plane once installed. When would I need a blanking plate?

Blanking plates cover back boxes that are no longer in use — for example, when a light switch position has been relocated, when redundant cable entry points remain after a room renovation, or when an old socket has been removed but the back box remains in the wall. The plate provides a safe, neat finish without needing to make good the wall.

Is the earth terminal required?

Yes. If the back box behind the blanking plate is metal, it must be earthed for safety. The plate includes an earth terminal to connect to the earth cable from the back box. Plastic back boxes do not require earthing.

What's the difference between flat plate and other styles?

Flat plate means the faceplate sits flush within the wall plane with no raised border or decorative edge. This gives a very low-profile finish (2.5mm projection) compared to decorative plate styles that can project 8-12mm from the wall.
