Description

The Knightsbridge 1 gang intelligent dimmer handles loads from 5-400W (5-150W LED) behind a white rounded-edge plate made from 7mm thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via a front-mounted control knob, allowing compatibility with different lamp technologies including dimmable LEDs, halogens and incandescent bulbs.

Designed for residential and commercial interiors where lighting needs may change over time, the front-accessible control knob allows installers or users to trim the minimum brightness, switch dimming modes and reset the dimmer without removing the faceplate or accessing the back box. The rotary push-on/push-off action dims by turning the knob and switches the circuit on or off by pressing it. The dimmer operates as a 2-way switch, allowing control from two locations when wired with a matching 2-way switch elsewhere in the circuit.

The 86mm square plate has a rounded-edge profile that sits slightly raised from the wall, providing a softer visual appearance than sharp-edged alternatives. The white finish pairs with most residential and office interiors, and the thermoset resin construction resists discolouration and impact better than standard plastic faceplates. The dimmer fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use. All lamps on the circuit must be dimmable, and mixing different lamp brands or wattages on the same dimmer is not supported.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits dimmable LEDs and low-voltage electronic transformers, while leading-edge mode suits older incandescent and halogen bulbs on resistive loads. The dimmer switches between modes using the front control knob, allowing it to adapt when bulb types change without rewiring.

Can this control lights from two locations?

Yes. The dimmer operates as a 2-way switch, so when paired with a standard 2-way switch at a second location, both switches can turn the circuit on or off. Only the dimmer location can adjust brightness.

What wattage LED bulbs does it support?

The dimmer handles 5-150W of dimmable LED load. In practice, this translates to approximately 10-15 dimmable LED bulbs at typical 8-12W each, depending on the exact bulb model and driver design. All bulbs on the circuit must be marked as dimmable.

Can I mix different bulb brands on the same dimmer?

No. Knightsbridge specifies that all lamps on the circuit must be the same brand and wattage to avoid flicker, inconsistent dimming or premature failure. Mixing lamp types overloads the dimmer's compatibility tuning.
