Description

The Knightsbridge SN2191 is a 1-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated at 5-400W for incandescent loads or 5-150W for LED loads, controlled by a centre-mounted rotary knob on a white square edge faceplate. The dimmer automatically switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes to suit different dimmable lamp types, and all mode adjustments can be made from the front control knob without removing the faceplate.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where lighting levels need regular adjustment, the 2-way wiring allows the dimmer to be paired with a second switch on the same circuit for dual-location control. The push-on/push-off rotary operation provides smooth dimming with one hand, and the intelligent mode-switching handles most dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent lamps without needing manual calibration. The dimmer fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use.

The white square edge faceplate is moulded from 9mm thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties, giving a hard-wearing surface that resists scratches and discolouration. The square edge profile sits flush with the wall rather than raised, making it less prone to accidental knocks. Note that this dimmer must be used with dimmable lamps only, and all lamps on the same circuit must be the same brand and wattage to avoid flicker or inconsistent dimming behaviour.

Frequently Asked

What lamps can this dimmer control?

The dimmer handles dimmable incandescent, halogen and LED lamps. For incandescent and halogen the load range is 5-400W. For LED the range is 5-150W. The dimmer automatically switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes to suit different lamp types, but all lamps on the same circuit must be the same brand and wattage to avoid flicker.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way wiring allows this dimmer to be paired with a second switch on the same lighting circuit, so the same light can be controlled from two locations. This is common in hallways, staircases and larger rooms with two entry points.

How is the dimmer mode adjusted?

All mode adjustments, trimming and reset functions are accessed from the front rotary control knob. There is no need to remove the faceplate or access rear switches to change between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes or to recalibrate when lamps are changed.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is required. The dimmer has a total depth of 43.8mm, with 16.3mm recessed into the back box and 26.5mm projecting from the wall once installed.
