Description

The Zila is a compact adjustable ceiling light built around a single cylindrical shade in matt black. A short arm links the shade to a round ceiling plate, and the cylinder pivots on that arm so you can angle the light where you want it rather than straight down. It takes one GU10 lamp, which is not included, so you choose the brightness and colour temperature of the light yourself. The shade is 5cm across and 12cm long, a slim cylinder that keeps the fitting neat and modern on the ceiling.

Because the head can be angled, this is a light for picking things out: a painting or print on the wall, a run of shelves, a reading chair or the end of a hallway. We like it in living rooms, bedrooms, studies and landings, and a row of them along a corridor gives a tidy, even rhythm of light. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It runs on mains power at 220 to 240V and works from an ordinary on-off switch, so there is no dimmer to match.

The structure is iron, finished in matt black for a soft, low-sheen surface that reads crisply against a white or pale ceiling and sits just as comfortably in darker, moodier schemes.
