Description

The Zila is an adjustable ceiling spotlight: a slim gold cylinder on a short angled arm, so you can point its light exactly where you want it. The cylindrical shade is 5cm across and 12cm long, and the arm meets a round mounting plate, giving the fitting a neat, modern outline. Inside the cylinder sits one GU10 lamp holder. The lamp is not included, so you choose your own GU10 bulb, picking the brightness and the warmth of white that suits the room. The structure is iron, finished in gold.

Because the head is adjustable, this is a light for picking things out rather than flooding a whole room. Angle it towards a favourite picture, a bookshelf, an armchair or a dark corner of the living room, and it puts a pool of light just there. It works well in a hallway, above a desk in a study, or in a bedroom where you want directed light rather than a central glow. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It runs on 220-240V mains and is an on-off fitting, worked from an ordinary wall switch rather than a dimmer.

The fitting is built around an iron structure, and the gold finish brings a warm sheen to a plain white ceiling. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 2 year guarantee. For styling, a gold cylinder spotlight sits happily in a modern scheme alongside warm woods, cream walls and soft textiles. Try two or three Zila spotlights in a line along a hallway ceiling, each aimed at a different picture, or use one above a sofa to wash light down a wall of shelves. A warm white GU10 bulb flatters the gold best.
