Description

The Vivika is an outdoor dining chair built on a tubular iron frame with a rustic bronze finish. The back is a single shaped metal panel, and a curved tube runs from the top of the back round each side to the front, sitting above the seat as an arm. The seat is acacia, laid in slats across the frame, and the legs splay out a little and taper to the floor.

At 78cm to the top of the back and 56 by 47cm on the floor this takes little room, which is what the bistro shape is for, and a pair draws up to a small round garden table. It is made for outdoor use. Acacia is a hard wood with a high oil content, which is why it is used outside, and left out it will weather to a grey patina unless it is oiled each season. The chair weighs 6.6kg.

The seat is acacia and the frame is iron. Acacia runs from light amber to a dark mahogany and deepens with age, and knots and small cracks along the grain come with the wood rather than count against it. The Vivika outdoor dining table is made to go with it.

Frequently Asked

Can it stay outside?

Yes. It is made for outdoor use. Storing it somewhere dry over the winter months will make it last longer.

How big is it?

78cm to the top of the back, 56cm wide and 47cm deep. It weighs 6.6kg.

What is it made from?

An acacia seat on an iron frame with a bronze finish.

Will the wood change colour?

Yes. Acacia weathers to a grey patina outdoors. A natural water resistant oil or wax each season slows it down.

Are cracks in the wood a fault?

No. Acacia develops cracks along the grain once it has been out in the weather, and knots are a natural property of the wood.

How is it looked after?

A yearly wash with warm water lifts algae and pollution off the timber. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning products.
