Description

Our Vinia vase is a multicoloured stoneware piece, painted by hand with one large flower, its stem and two long leaves running up the front. The top edge rises to follow the outline of the bloom, so the vase reads as part picture, part vessel. A striped border with a row of painted triangles runs down one side, and a second band of stripes crosses the base. It is 23.5cm long, 7.5cm wide and 23cm tall: about as long as it is tall, yet narrow from front to back. At 1.41KG it has a solid, reassuring weight in the hand.

Because it is so slim from front to back, it fits where a rounder vase would crowd things: a narrow shelf, a windowsill, the back of a sideboard or the corner of a desk. The opening along the top suits a few stems rather than a full bunch, and a single bold bloom or a sprig of leaves lets the painted flower stay the star.
