Description

The Vinay is an armless dining chair with a handwoven jute seat and back panel on a frame of solid acacia. The wood is stained a dark chocolate brown that leaves the grain showing through it. Four round legs taper towards the floor and splay outwards, and the back legs carry on up as the uprights of the back. The jute is worked in a chevron across both panels with a plaited border run round the edge of each, and the back panel is wrapped round the uprights at either side.

The seat sits at 45cm, which is standard dining height, and the chair stands 87cm to the top of the back. At 52cm wide it takes its place along a table without crowding the chair beside it, and at 58cm deep it pushes in under a standard table top. It will take up to 100kg.

The frame is acacia and the weaving is jute. Jute is a plant fibre, so the panels breathe rather than holding heat the way a padded seat does, and the tone of the cord varies across a single panel. The Vinay range also runs to a counter chair in this chocolate brown, and to dining chairs, counter chairs and a counter stool in natural.

Frequently Asked

How high is the seat?

45cm, which is standard dining height. The chair stands 87cm to the top of the back.

How much weight will it take?

Up to 100kg.

Does it have arms?

No. It is an armless chair.

What are the seat and back made from?

Handwoven jute cord on an acacia frame.

Is it made in another colour?

Yes. The same Vinay chair is made in natural, and there is a counter chair in this chocolate brown.

How should it be looked after?

Wipe the wood regularly with a soft dry cloth, working in the direction of the grain. Mild soap and water can be used, but not much water, and dry any spill immediately. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight, which will fade it, and away from extremes of heat and humidity, which can split the wood.
