Description
A counter stool with a back, built on a frame of solid acacia stained a dark chocolate brown. The seat and the back panel are both handwoven in natural jute cord, the seat in a squared spiral and the back in a herringbone, and the cord is bound round the rails at every edge. The back panel is held between two uprights that run up from the rear legs and finish in rounded tips just above it. The four legs taper and splay, and a box stretcher near the floor ties them together and doubles as a footrest.
The seat sits 70cm from the floor, which is counter height, so it belongs at a kitchen island or a breakfast bar rather than at a dining table. At a kitchen island the back stands clear above the worktop. It is 54cm wide and 62cm front to back, the seat carries up to 100kg, and at 11kg the stool is light enough to move with one hand.
The frame is solid acacia, stained rather than painted, so the grain runs through the chocolate brown. The seat and the back are woven by hand from natural jute, which leaves an open, breathable surface, and the pale cord sits against the dark frame. The Vinay range also runs to a dining chair in the same chocolate brown.

Frequently Asked
How high is the seat?
70cm, which is counter height.
How much weight will it take?
Up to 100kg.
What is the seat made from?
Handwoven natural jute cord, on a solid acacia frame.
Does it have a back?
Yes. A woven jute panel held between two uprights above the seat.
How big is it?
112cm tall overall, 54cm wide and 62cm front to back. It weighs 11kg.
How do I look after it?
The wood is sealed, but wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth, and use mild soap and water sparingly rather than a wet cloth, always working along the grain. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away from the finish, stand wet items on a mat, and mop up spills straight away. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight, which fades the stain, and away from extremes of heat and humidity, which can open cracks in the wood.
