Description

A dining chair with a padded leather seat and a padded leather back rest, both carried on a slim dark iron frame. The back rest is a separate panel held on two uprights and stands clear of the seat, and a single line of stitching runs round the edge of each pad. The leather is buffalo hide in aged tan, a warm mid brown that reads lighter over the crown of the seat where it is stretched. The front legs rake forward and the back legs rake back, each ending in a flattened foot.

The seat sits at 49cm and the chair stands 78cm to the top of the back, 46cm wide and 52cm deep, so it pushes under a table and takes little room when it is out. It will carry up to 110kg. At a dining table the back stands clear of the table edge. There are no arms, so several will sit along one side of a table without fouling each other.

The upholstery is buffalo leather and the frame is iron. The hide is a by product of herds farmed by local herdsmen, and it is dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark rather than pigment, so the colour deepens with use instead of staying where it starts. The Ukari range holds this dining chair in aged tan, aged black, rich green and chocolate brown, and a counter stool in the same four.
