Description

The Knightsbridge TR652581EMHF is a twin-tube 5ft fluorescent batten rated IP65 for dustproof and water-resistant operation. The fitting houses two 58W T8 fluorescent tubes (sold separately) behind a prismatic polycarbonate diffuser, running on 110V mains with high-frequency ballast. An integral 3-hour emergency battery backup maintains light output during mains failure, with an LED indicator confirming battery charge status.

Designed for industrial, warehouse, workshop and outdoor covered environments where impact resistance, moisture protection and emergency lighting are required by regulation or practical need. The IP65 rating allows installation in wash-down areas, covered loading bays, agricultural buildings and external overhangs where rain ingress is a concern. The 110V operation suits site voltage systems common in construction and industrial settings.

The yellow polycarbonate body is impact-resistant and non-corrosive, making it suitable for environments with chemical exposure, salt air or heavy machinery vibration. The diffuser clips into place with 12 supplied fixing clips, and the fitting mounts to walls or ceilings via a supplied metal bracket. The emergency pack supports maintained, non-maintained and switched modes, allowing the batten to function as permanent lighting, emergency-only lighting, or a combination depending on wiring configuration.

At 1560mm long, 145mm wide and 100mm deep, the batten provides wide-angle task lighting across approximately 15-20m² depending on ceiling height and required lux levels. The high-frequency ballast reduces flicker compared to older magnetic ballast designs, making the fitting more comfortable for prolonged visual tasks. Electrical connection is via a 10A connector block inside the terminal housing.

The fitting takes two 5ft (1500mm) T8 fluorescent tubes rated at 58W each. Tubes are sold separately. Most installations use 840 (cool white 4000K) or 865 (daylight 6500K) colour temperatures for industrial and workshop applications.

What does IP65 mean in practice?

IP65 means the fitting is fully dustproof and protected against water jets from any direction. It can be hosed down or installed in environments with heavy moisture, but is not suitable for full submersion or permanent underwater use.

How does the emergency function work?

The integral battery pack provides 3 hours of light output when mains power is lost. The fitting can be wired for maintained mode (tubes on continuously, switching to battery during outage), non-maintained mode (tubes only light during outage), or switched mode (manual control with emergency override). An LED indicator on the body confirms battery charge status.

Why 110V instead of 230V?

110V is the standard site voltage for UK construction, industrial and workshop environments where reduced voltage provides additional safety against electric shock. This batten requires a 110V supply or a step-down transformer if your site runs 230V mains.
