The Tiny table lamp is a compact light for a side table or shelf: a slim round stem in satin nickel metal standing on a flat disc base, topped by a plastic shade that glows softly when lit. It comes with a choice of three shades, triangle, round or square, and each version stands 33cm tall. The triangle shade is 14.5cm across, the round shade 15cm across and the square shade 18cm wide. It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so you choose the bulb and the warmth of its light yourself.

This is a lamp for the rooms you spend your evenings in: a side table in the living room, a bedside, a hallway console or a desk where a soft glow suits better than an overhead light. The maker states it is for indoor use only. It is rated IP45 and comes with a UK plug, so it plugs straight into a standard socket with nothing to wire in. Being small, it is easy to move from a bedside table to a bookcase or a reading corner whenever a room needs a little more light.

The design is by Josep Novell and Josep Puig, and the construction is simple: a metal stem and base in a satin nickel finish, with the plastic shade sitting on top and the cable leaving from the base. The satin finish has a soft sheen rather than a mirror shine, so it sits comfortably with warm woods, pale stone and painted furniture alike. For styling, we like the triangle shade turned so one flat face looks into the room, the round shade where you want a gentler outline, and the square shade in a room of straight lines. A pair either side of a sofa or bed works well with any of the three.
