Description
ThePalm is a 12 light LED chandelier in a black finish, made from iron with white acrylic heads. Twelve slim arms curve down from a central column and sweep back up in two tiers, each ending in an upright acrylic head that glows at its tip. The light comes from integrated LEDs, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. Together they draw 22.9W and give 1889 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 80+, so wood, fabric and skin tones look natural. The chandelier is 56cm tall and 75cm across, with a 250cm drop, and it carries energy class E.
At 75cm across, it is a generous size to hang over a dining table, in the centre of a living room, or in a tall hallway or stairwell where the 250cm drop suits a high ceiling. It also works well in hotel lobbies, restaurants and shops that want a strong centrepiece. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only. It is not dimmable, so it runs on an ordinary on and off switch rather than a dimmer. For softer evening light, we would pair it with table lamps around the room.
The frame is iron with a black finish, and the arms gather into a fluted central column, giving the whole fitting a soft, rounded outline. The acrylic heads give a gentle glow at the end of every arm rather than a bare point of light. The design is by Cristian Cubiñá. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. When styling, we like the black finish against pale plaster, exposed brick or painted block, where the curved arms stand out clearly, and it sits comfortably above a long timber table with simple chairs.
