Description

Tessa is a slim floor lamp in matt black, with a small dome shade hanging from a short arm at the top of a straight, upright stem. It stands 145cm tall on a round, flat base 33cm across, and the dome shade is 17cm tall and 15cm across, so it sends its light down onto the space beneath it rather than spreading it across the whole room. It takes one E27 lamp, which is not included, so you can choose the bulb, its brightness and the warmth of its light to suit the room. The structure is iron and the shade is aluminium, both in the same even matt black.

Because the light falls in a soft pool below the dome, Tessa works well beside an armchair or a sofa, at the side of a bed, or next to a desk, wherever you want light on a book or a page. Its narrow stem and small shade take up very little floor space, so it suits a compact flat, a bedroom corner or a quiet spot for reading. The clean, simple lines sit easily in a modern or Scandinavian scheme, and the matt black reads crisply against pale walls and light wood. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, studies and hallways.

The slim iron frame and the aluminium dome share one matt black finish, and the plastic cable runs 2m from the base, so place it within easy reach of a socket. It runs on 220-240V and switches simply on and off, with no dimmer to set. It carries a 2 year guarantee. For a gentle evening glow, we would fit a warm white E27 bulb and stand the lamp just behind the shoulder of your favourite chair, so the dome lights your lap and leaves the rest of the room softly dim.
