Description

A low sideboard in iron, 122cm wide and 84cm high, with two glazed doors across the front and one shelf running the full width behind them. The carcass is dark grey throughout, inside as well as out, and the door frames are slim enough that the glass reads as most of the front. Each door carries a long vertical bar handle. It stands on four square legs that taper towards the floor and lift the body clear of it.

At 31cm this is a shallow piece, which is what lets it take a hall or a dining room wall without eating into the room. That depth holds plates, glasses and serving dishes and not a great deal more. Because the doors are glass, whatever goes in is on show, so it suits crockery and glassware rather than anything that wants putting away out of sight, and the top takes a lamp or a pair of vases.

The frame is iron and the door panels are glass. There is one shelf, set at mid height, which gives two levels behind each door. The dark grey carries over the shelf and the back panel as well as the outside, so the interior does not read as a different colour once the doors are open. The Takua range also runs to a cabinet, made narrow and made wide.
