Description

Tacana is a stoneware candle holder built around an open ring. It is striped all the way round, with a small cup on top for a single taper candle and a flat oval foot on which it stands. It is multicoloured, and the relaxed, slightly irregular stripes give it a cheerful, informal look that reads well from across a room. At 12cm tall and 10cm across it is a compact piece, and at 0.21KG it is light enough to move from shelf to table whenever the mood takes you.

Because the ring is open, you see straight through the middle of it, so the holder never looks heavy, even on a narrow windowsill or a crowded mantelpiece. Its size suits a bedside table, a bookshelf or a side table in the living room, and it sits happily on a small stack of books for a little extra height. Use it on its own as a single point of candlelight on a winter evening. You can also group it with candle holders you already own, down the middle of a table or along a sideboard, for a relaxed, layered look.

The holder is made entirely of stoneware, a clay fired at high temperature into a dense, hard-wearing body. Like any ceramic it can chip if it is knocked against something hard, so it is worth setting it down gently on stone or glass surfaces. The taper sits upright in the cup at the top of the ring, and the flat foot keeps the whole piece level on a shelf or tabletop. The styling props shown are not included.
