The Softie Check cushion is a plush polyester piece built around a raised grid. The face carries a check of amber-gold squares set into deep green channels, each square standing slightly proud so the pattern reads as much by touch as by sight. It measures 40 x 60cm, a generous rectangular bolster shape rather than a square, which makes it a useful piece for a sofa back or a bed where you want something to lean into rather than prop stiffly in a corner.

A rectangle this size does a particular job. On a two or three seater sofa it fills the small of your back where a square cushion sits too high, and on a bed it works as the front layer against taller square shams.
