Description

Our Shama dinner plate is made from 100% stoneware and decorated by hand, which means each piece is unique. Around the wide rim runs a double ring of round dots, larger ones on the outside and smaller ones inside them, and the centre carries a spiral of fine painted lines that winds inward to a small curl at the middle. The whole piece is multicoloured, and the plain ground between the dots and lines keeps the pattern light and open. At 27cm across and 4cm tall it is a generous dinner plate size, with a gently raised rim around a broad centre.

This is a plate for the main meal of the day: a Sunday roast, a weeknight curry with rice, a generous helping of pasta or a summer salad laid out at the garden table. It suits a kitchen table used every day just as well as a dining room laid for guests. Because every plate is decorated by hand, a few of them together give a table a relaxed, collected look rather than a factory-matched one.
