Description
This is a pair of wooden salt and pepper grinders, each built from three softly rounded segments stacked one on another, so the outline reads like a small column of pebbles. Each grinder is 6.5cm across and 17cm tall, slim enough to hold in one hand and tall enough to stand clearly on a laid table. They are 80% acacia, a hardwood with a pronounced grain, and stainless steel, aluminium, ceramic and polypropylene make up the rest. The finished wood is brown, and the tops are marked with an S and a P, so nobody has to guess which is which.
They belong on the dining table and the kitchen worktop. Set them out for Sunday lunch, keep them beside you while you cook, or put them on a breakfast tray, with salt in one and peppercorns in the other. Their rounded, stacked shape suits a scrubbed wooden farmhouse table as readily as a glossy painted one, so they sit happily in a cottage kitchen or a modern open-plan dining room. As a pair they also make a thoughtful housewarming present, or a useful gift for someone setting up their own kitchen.
The acacia has a varnished finish, which gives the wood a soft sheen and lets the grain show through. They do not go in the dishwasher, the microwave or the oven, and as with any wooden piece, a long soak in water is best avoided. Acacia is a natural material, so the grain runs differently on each grinder and no two pairs look quite alike. For the table, stand them side by side on a small board or tray at the centre, where the stacked segments catch the light and are within easy reach of everyone.

They are 80% acacia wood with a varnished finish, and the remaining parts are stainless steel, aluminium, ceramic and polypropylene, 5% each.
Can the grinders go in the dishwasher?
No. They are not dishwasher safe, and they should not go in the microwave or the oven either.
How big is each grinder?

How do I tell the salt grinder from the pepper grinder?
The top of one grinder is marked with an S and the other with a P, so you can see at a glance which holds salt and which holds pepper.
