Description

The Rui is a modern LED wall light built as a reading light: a slim cylindrical tube in matt black, held out on a short arm from a small round wall plate. The tube is adjustable, pivoting so you can angle the light where you want it, onto the page of a book, across a desk or down towards a chair. Inside is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 2.7W and gives 250 lumens of warm white light at 3000K through a 45 degree beam. A colour rendering index of 90 or more means print, fabrics and skin tones look true under it.

Its natural place is beside a bed. Fixed to the wall at headboard height, it gives you a reading light of your own without a bedside lamp taking up space on the table, and the narrow beam keeps the light on your book rather than on the person next to you. It works just as well beside an armchair in a living room or over a desk in a study. The fitting is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so there is no dimmer to choose.

The structure is iron and the base is aluminium, both finished in matt black, a low-sheen finish that sits quietly against painted plaster, stone or timber panelling. It runs on 220 to 240V mains, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 5 year guarantee. Fit one on each side of the bed with the tubes angled in towards the pillows, or set a single Rui beside your favourite chair with the light tipped down to where your book rests.
