The Rudi is a linear LED pendant light in matt green: a long, slim iron tube with natural wood caps at each end, and a shorter tube section at its centre where it meets the suspension. It is 120cm long and 8.5cm tall, hung from a 12cm ceiling canopy on fine wires and a 2m textile cable. The light is integrated LED, so it needs no bulb. It draws 32W and gives 5400 lumens, a generous output for a long table, spread through a wide 120° beam angle.

We would hang it over a dining table, a long desk or a meeting table, where its length follows the line of the surface beneath and the broad beam lights the whole run rather than one pool. With a colour rendering index of 90 or more, food, wood and fabric keep their true colours under it. It comes in two colour temperatures, 2700K or 3000K: 2700K for a softer, warmer evening glow in a dining room, 3000K for a slightly crisper warm white over a desk or worktable. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so it suits a room that wants full, even light.

The structure is iron, finished in matt green, and the caps are natural wood, a pairing that suits a modern or Scandinavian room.
