Description

The Rock is a compact drum light with an alabaster shade on a black aluminium base, fixed flush to a ceiling or to a wall with no stem. It comes in two sizes. The 9cm size is 7.5cm tall and 9cm across, with a 5cm tall shade on a 7cm base. The 14cm size is 7.5cm tall and 13.5cm across, with a 5cm tall shade on a 10cm base. The integrated LED needs no bulb: it draws 4W, gives 350 lumens and spreads light through 360 degrees, so the whole drum glows. Choose a colour temperature of 2700K or 3000K; 2700K is the warmer of the two.

Because it sits close to the surface, the Rock suits places where a pendant would get in the way: a low hallway, a landing, a walk-in wardrobe or a bedroom. It is rated IP44, which means it is protected against splashing water, so it can also go in a bathroom or en-suite. The 9cm size gives a small, soft point of light, good along a corridor or by a mirror, while the 14cm size gives a wider drum of glowing stone. Its colour rendering index of 85 or more keeps skin tones and paint colours looking natural, and its modern shape suits contemporary rooms.

The base is aluminium in a black finish and the shade is alabaster, a soft natural stone with gentle veining, so the light glows through the stone. It is on-off switched and not dimmable, so it works from an ordinary light switch rather than a dimmer. It runs on 220-240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, a pair of the 9cm size on a dark painted wall lets the base fade away so the stone seems to float, while on a pale ceiling the black base draws a crisp line around the drum.
