Description

The Rocio is a small single-light pendant built from two simple shapes: a slim matt white cylinder and an ash wood ball sitting on top of it. The cylinder is the shade, 6cm across, and the whole pendant is 20cm tall, so it reads as a neat, compact drop rather than a large centrepiece. It takes one GU10 lamp, which is not included, so you choose the lamp yourself. It hangs from an 8cm round canopy on a 1.5m textile cable. It is a switched, on-off fitting rather than a dimmable one.

Its modern, Scandinavian lines suit a calm, pared-back room. We like it hung low over a dining table, a desk or a sideboard, beside a bed in place of a table lamp, or in a hallway where a compact pendant keeps the ceiling uncluttered. Because it is small, it works well in multiples: two or three hung in a line over a long table give an even run of light without crowding the space. The fitting is rated IP20, which means it is for dry rooms only, so it belongs in living spaces, bedrooms, studies and halls rather than anywhere it could be splashed.

The structure is brass, finished in matt white, and the ball on top is ash wood, so the warm grain of the timber sits against the plain white tube. The textile cable gives a soft, tidy finish where it runs up to the canopy. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 2 year guarantee.
