Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered CAT5e RJ45 port behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. The outlet uses IDC (insulation displacement connector) terminals that accept standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable without stripping individual conductors, and the installation kit includes the punch-down tool needed to terminate the cable correctly.

Designed for wired network points in home offices, bedrooms, living rooms and commercial environments where Wi-Fi alone is insufficient for reliable connection to routers, switches, NAS devices or smart home hubs. The outlet fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The shuttered port closes when no cable is inserted, preventing dust and debris from entering the socket.

The 87.5mm square faceplate is cut from premium-grade steel with a directional brushed chrome finish that shows fine horizontal grain lines. The 4.3mm projection from the wall gives a low-profile finish suitable for narrow skirting boards and tight spaces behind furniture. The built-in gasket around the sub-frame reduces the chance of plaster dust entering the back box during installation. A write-on designation label inside the faceplate allows installers to mark which room or device the outlet serves, useful in multi-room network installations.

What cable category does this outlet support?

The outlet is rated for CAT5e and will accept CAT6 cable as well. The IDC terminals accommodate solid-core Ethernet cable between 22-26 AWG gauge. The outlet itself is specified as CAT5e, so maximum throughput is limited to 1 Gigabit Ethernet regardless of the cable grade used.

Is the punch-down tool included?

Yes. Knightsbridge supplies the IDC termination tool needed to punch down the cable conductors into the terminals. The tool is reusable across multiple outlets in the same installation.

Can this be installed in a bathroom or outdoor location?

No. The IP20 rating means the outlet is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, use outlets rated IP44 or higher depending on the zone. For outdoor use, a weatherproof enclosure with IP65 or IP66 rating is required.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the outlet and re-clipped without disturbing the cable terminations.
