Description

The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered CAT5e Ethernet port behind a brushed chrome flat plate with an ultra-low 2.5mm projection from the wall. The outlet uses IDC (insulation displacement) terminals on the rear for tool-free termination of twisted-pair network cable, with the required punch-down tool included in the box.

Designed for residential and light commercial wired network installations, the outlet suits home offices, bedrooms, living rooms and commercial spaces where Gigabit Ethernet connectivity is needed at the wall. The shuttered port protects the RJ45 socket from dust when not in use and prevents accidental contact with the internal terminals. The flat plate design sits flush with the wall surface, minimising projection in hallways and tight spaces where protruding accessories could catch on clothing or furniture.

The brushed chrome finish on the premium-grade steel faceplate provides a contemporary metallic accent that pairs with both chrome and stainless steel hardware throughout a property. What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the outlet mechanism and cable terminations behind the faceplate. The flat plate itself adds only 2.5mm of projection from the wall once installed.

What network speed does CAT5e support?

CAT5e supports Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) at speeds up to 1Gbps over cable runs of 100 metres or less. This is sufficient for most residential and small office wired network applications.

Is a termination tool included?

Yes. The outlet includes an IDC punch-down tool for terminating twisted-pair cable onto the rear terminals. No additional tools are required for cable termination, though cable strippers and testers are recommended for professional installations.

What does the shutter do?

The shuttered port includes a spring-loaded cover that closes over the RJ45 socket when no cable is plugged in. This protects the internal contacts from dust and prevents accidental contact with the terminals.
