Description

A pair of folding garden chairs, each 90cm tall, 44cm wide and 60cm deep, built on a thin iron frame with reclaimed wood filling the seat and the back. The back is two wide slats held between two uprights with a gap between them, and the seat is four boards laid across the frame, all of them left in the pale, saw marked grain of the old wood. The iron is dark and powder coated, the legs cross in a scissor under the seat so the chair folds flat, and each leg ends in a small disc foot.

The seat sits at 45cm and the top of the back at 90cm, and at 44cm wide two of them fit close together round a small table. They stand outdoors on decking. At 60cm from front to back they take up little floor, and folded they go flat against a wall or into a shed, which is the point of the scissor frame.

The frame is iron and the wood is reclaimed. Every board carries the marks of what it was before, so the tone, the grain and the splits differ from board to board and from chair to chair, and the two in a pair will not match each other exactly. The iron legs are powder coated, a harder finish than conventional paint, which is what makes the chairs suitable for the garden. A matching Rishikesh folding table is made in the same wood and iron.
