Description

Our Rio Single Arm Wall Light brings a pendant to the wall. A long, slim arm rises from a narrow rectangular back plate and runs out level, and from its tip a textile cable drops to a rounded dome shade, so the light hangs in the air the way a pendant would while the fitting itself fixes to the wall. Everything is in matt black, from the iron structure to the shade. The fitting stands 46cm tall, and the shade is 16cm across and 15cm tall: compact enough to sit neatly beside furniture. It takes one GX53 lamp, so check any lamp you choose has that cap.

Because it reaches out from the wall rather than sitting flat against it, this wall light puts light where a ceiling pendant might otherwise go: over a bedside table, beside a reading chair or above a sideboard in a dining room. Hung either side of a bed, a pair leaves the bedside tables free for books. Its clean, modern lines have a Scandinavian ease, at home with pale timber, plain plaster and simple furniture alike. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways and studies all suit it.

The structure is iron, finished in matt black, and the cable is textile, a softer detail where it drops from the arm to the shade. It works on simple on-off switching rather than dimming, so it needs no dimmer, and it runs on 220-240V mains.
