The Rio is a linear chandelier in matt white: five dome shades hang in a row beneath a slim horizontal bar, giving a long, even line of light rather than one central drop. The structure is iron, finished in matt white throughout, with a textile cable. It is 120cm wide and 14cm tall, each shade is 12cm across, and the ceiling canopy is 8cm across. It takes five GX53 lamps, one in each shade, and works on a simple on-off switch rather than a dimmer.

We would hang it first over a dining table, where its 120cm length runs along the table and spreads light from end to end instead of pooling in the middle. It suits a long desk or work table in a study just as well, or a wide hallway or landing where a row of shades looks more considered than a single pendant. The plain white shades and clean lines sit naturally in modern and Scandinavian rooms, and the white finish keeps a long fitting easy on the eye against a pale ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The bar and the five shades share one matt white finish over the iron structure, so the whole fitting reads as one clean piece.
