Our Rio 9 Linear 5 Light Chandelier lines up five small dome shades beneath a long, slim rail, so one fitting spreads light along a table rather than pooling it in a single spot in the middle. It is 120cm wide and 9.5cm tall, with each dome shade 9cm across. The iron structure is finished in terracotta, a warm, earthy colour that sits happily with natural wood, linen and stone. It has five GX53 lamp holders, one in each shade, and the light falls downwards from the open base of every dome onto the surface beneath.

Its long, low line makes it a natural choice over a dining table, where five evenly spaced pools of light reach towards both ends without a second pendant. It works just as well above a long sideboard, a desk in a home office, a reception desk, or a long shared table in a café, anywhere a row of light suits a long surface. The terracotta brings warmth to a modern or Scandinavian scheme, against white walls, pale oak or soft greys. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is an on-off fitting, switched rather than dimmed, so it suits a room where you want plain, steady light at the press of a switch.
