Description

The Rio 9 is a circular chandelier built around a slim red iron ring, 79cm across and just 9.5cm tall, with small dome shades hanging from it. Each shade is 9cm across and opens downwards, so the light falls in a loose circle of pools rather than from one bright centre. The ring hangs from fine suspension wires, and a 2m textile cable runs up to a 14cm ceiling canopy. It takes GX53 lamps and works on an ordinary on-off switch, so there is no dimmer to choose or match.

At 79cm across, it suits a generous dining table, a large living room or an open-plan space where a single pendant would look lost. Because the fitting is so shallow, it keeps sight lines clear across the room while still marking out the table or seating area beneath it.
