Description

The Rhoda pendant light brings the focus of a spotlight to a hanging fitting. A slim tubular shade sits at an angle on a straight rod that drops from a round ceiling canopy. The light comes from the open end of the tube, so it is aimed rather than spread around the room. The head is an adjustable spot, letting you point it where you want it. The iron structure is finished in matt polished brass, a soft gold with a gentle sheen. The shade is 25cm wide and 4cm tall, and the canopy is 8cm across. It takes one GU10 lamp, the familiar spotlight cap.

Because it aims its light, Rhoda suits places where you want to pick something out: over a dining table, above a desk, beside a favourite reading chair, or angled towards a painting, a shelf of books or a large plant. We like a few hung in a row over a long table or along a hallway, each head set to its own angle. Its clean, modern lines sit well in contemporary rooms, and the warm brass tone pairs nicely with oak, walnut, marble and deep painted walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, studies and hallways.

The structure is iron, and the matt polished brass finish runs over the canopy, rod and shade alike. Rhoda is on-off switched rather than dimmable, so it works with your wall switch and needs no dimmer, and it runs on 220-240V mains. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we would let the brass echo other warm metals in the room, such as a mirror frame or cabinet handles, and turn the head towards whatever you most want to see in the evening.
