Description

The Rhoda is a linear pendant light built around a slim copper tube that hangs from a straight rod and can be angled to point its light where you want it. The tube shade is 25cm long and 4cm high, a long straight bar of colour rather than a wide shade, and the rod drops from a round 8cm ceiling canopy. It takes one GU10 lamp at the end of the tube, a common cap with a wide choice of brightness and colour temperature, and the light leaves the open end as a directed beam. The copper finish sits over an iron structure, warm in tone and quietly modern.

Because the shade is adjustable, the Rhoda works as a pendant and a spotlight at once. Angle it down over a dining table, a desk or a sideboard to pick out a bowl of fruit, a picture or a plant, or hang two or three in a row over a long table for a run of linear light. It suits modern dining rooms, living rooms, hallways and bedrooms, where you want light aimed at something rather than a general glow across the room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron and the tube and rod carry the same copper finish, so the whole fitting reads as one clean line from ceiling to shade. It runs on 220-240V mains and is an on-off switched fitting, so it is made for an ordinary light switch rather than a dimmer. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we like the copper against dark painted walls, oak and walnut, and green leaves, with the tube angled towards whatever you want noticed first.
