Description

The Ranchi is a tall display cabinet made from iron, 156cm high, 80cm wide and 36cm deep. A pair of doors runs the full height of the front, each glazed in three panes, and the two shelves inside line up with the glazing bars so the front reads as a grid of six. The sides are solid, so all the glass is at the front. The antique brass finish has darkened unevenly across the panels and around the small hinges, and the carcass stands clear of the floor on four square legs.

At 156cm high and only 36cm deep the cabinet takes a narrow strip of floor against a wall, and it holds books upright. The two shelves divide the inside into three compartments. Both doors open on the full width of the carcass, so the back of a shelf can be reached without moving what stands in front of it.

The carcass, the shelves, the frames and the legs are iron, and the door panels are glass. The brass is applied over the iron and varies in depth from panel to panel, which is where the darker pooling at the edges comes from. The Ranchi range also holds a sideboard in the same finish. The cabinet is sold empty.

Frequently Asked

How many shelves are inside?

Two, dividing the inside into three compartments.

Is the glass only in the doors?

Yes. Each door is glazed in three panes and the sides are solid iron.

How heavy is it?

52kg.

How do I look after the finish?

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Chemicals and household cleaners will damage the brass, so keep them away from it.

Will every cabinet look the same?

Not exactly. The brass is applied over iron and varies in depth from panel to panel, so the darker and lighter areas fall differently on each one.
