Description

The QTX HIPAR 3m power extension lead connects HIPAR weatherproof PAR cans in outdoor lighting installations, extending the distance between fixtures or from a power source to the first fitting. The cable carries an IP65 rating, meaning both the cable jacket and the moulded connectors are sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction.

Designed for stage, event, architectural and garden lighting where PAR cans need to be positioned beyond the reach of a fixed power supply, the 3m length gives flexibility to spread fixtures across a facade, along a pathway, or around a garden feature without daisy-chaining multiple shorter leads. The moulded connectors are keyed to prevent incorrect connection and provide a weatherproof seal when mated with HIPAR PAR can sockets.

The cable uses a thick rubber jacket that remains flexible in cold conditions and resists UV degradation when used outdoors year-round. The connectors are over-moulded onto the cable ends rather than being separate components, reducing the chance of water ingress at the cable entry point. Each connector has ribbed grips to aid removal when wet or when wearing gloves.

Is this compatible with all QTX HIPAR PAR cans?

Yes. The extension lead is designed specifically for the QTX HIPAR range of weatherproof PAR cans and uses the matching connector configuration. It will not fit standard IEC or mains connectors.

Can multiple extension leads be daisy-chained?

Yes, provided the total load does not exceed the rating of the cable and the combined length does not introduce excessive voltage drop for the connected fixtures. For runs longer than 6m, check the total wattage of all connected PAR cans.

Does the IP65 rating apply when the connectors are mated?

Yes. When the connectors are fully engaged and seated, the IP65 rating applies to the entire assembly including both ends. The connectors must be properly mated and locked to maintain the seal.

Can this be left outdoors permanently?

The cable and connectors are rated for outdoor use and resist UV degradation, but like all outdoor electrical equipment the lifespan is extended by storing indoors when not in use. Regular inspection of the cable jacket and connectors is recommended for installations left outdoors year-round.
