Description

The PowerMaster rectangular bulkhead is an IP65-rated outdoor wall light with a black polypropylene base and a clear polycarbonate diffuser over a prismatic inner lens. The ES (E27 Edison screw) lampholder accepts bulbs up to 100W, sold separately. The IP65 rating protects internal components from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, allowing the fitting to be mounted on external walls exposed to rain.

Designed for pathway lighting, garage entrances, industrial buildings, and covered outdoor areas, the bulkhead operates on 220-240V mains and requires hardwired installation to a suitable external circuit. The rectangular footprint of 245mm height by 125mm width suits mounting on vertical surfaces where the fitting needs to provide downward and forward light distribution. The diffuser spreads light evenly across the lens face, reducing glare and providing functional illumination rather than decorative accent lighting.

The polypropylene base resists impact and UV degradation better than ABS plastic, extending outdoor lifespan in exposed positions. The polycarbonate diffuser is tougher than acrylic and less prone to yellowing over time. The black finish conceals weathering and dust better than lighter colours in high-traffic outdoor areas. At 0.5kg the fitting is light enough for mounting onto standard masonry or timber wall surfaces without additional structural support.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard ES (E27 Edison screw) bulb up to 100W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 10-15W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor security or pathway lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3, but not zone 0 (inside a shower cubicle or directly above a bath). For typical bathroom wall mounting outside the immediate shower area, the rating is sufficient.

How is it wired?

The bulkhead requires hardwired connection to a 220-240V mains circuit. A qualified electrician should connect the fitting to the external lighting circuit, ensuring the cable entry gland is correctly sealed to maintain the IP65 rating.

What's the difference between IP65 and IP44?

IP65 protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. IP44 protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes. IP65 is the higher rating and better suited to fully exposed outdoor positions.
