Description
The PowerMaster 5ft 60W LED twin emergency batten is a ceiling-mounted linear fitting delivering 7,800 lumens at 4000K cool white from integrated Samsung SMD LED chips across two parallel lamp channels. The emergency function provides 1.5W-2.0W backup power for up to 3 hours during mains failure, maintaining visibility in corridors, stairwells and exit routes where continuous lighting is required by UK fire safety regulations.
Designed for commercial, retail and public sector installation, the batten suits offices, warehouses, retail stockrooms, school corridors and NHS settings where both general task lighting and emergency egress lighting are needed from a single fitting. The 1524mm length covers typical UK bay spacing at 1.5m centres, and the screwless hinged bracket allows the diffuser to swing down for lamp channel access and re-lamp without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling.
The white powder-coated steel housing encloses an aluminium PCB heat sink that dissipates heat from the LED chips, extending lamp life beyond 30,000 hours at typical ambient temperatures. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads the light output evenly across the 120° beam angle, reducing glare and hot spots on worksurfaces below. Quick-fit push terminals on the driver accept single or multi-strand cable without screwdrivers, and the power factor above 0.9 minimises reactive load on the supply circuit.

Frequently Asked
How does the emergency function work?
The integrated emergency driver charges from the mains supply and switches to battery backup automatically during a power cut, providing 1.5W-2.0W output for up to 3 hours. This maintains minimum visibility for safe building evacuation as required by UK Building Regulations and BS 5266.
Is the batten suitable for low ceilings?
The batten projects approximately 85mm from the ceiling surface once fitted. It suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards and works well in rooms with lower ceilings where pendant or projecting fittings would feel intrusive.
Can the diffuser be removed for cleaning?
Yes. The screwless hinged bracket allows the opal diffuser to swing down on the hinge without removing fixings, exposing the LED channels for cleaning or inspection. This simplifies maintenance in commercial settings where dust and airborne particles accumulate over time.
What's the difference between twin and single battens?
Twin battens contain two parallel LED channels inside the housing, typically doubling the light output compared to a single-channel batten of the same length. This fitting delivers 7,800lm across both channels versus around 3,900lm for a comparable single-channel 5ft batten.
