60W IP20 5ft LED Emergency Twin Batten - Cool White 4000K

This is a 5ft LED batten, 1500mm end to end, built as a twin high output unit rather than a single strip. It draws 60W and gives 7800 lumens at 4000K, a cool white with a clean, slightly blue cast that keeps colours and printed labels easy to read. The LEDs are integrated, so there is no tube to buy, fit or replace later. A full length moulded diffuser softens the line of light so the individual diodes do not glare, and an emergency module is built into the body, which lights the fitting if the mains supply drops out.

At 7800 lumens this is a lot of light for one fitting, which makes it a sensible choice for a double garage, a workshop bench, a stockroom or a long corridor where you would otherwise run two smaller battens. The white housing and the 120 degree spread suit a surface mounted ceiling, and it works just as well fixed to a wall above a work area. The IP20 rating means indoor, dry positions only, so keep it to spaces that stay covered and free of splashing.

Do I need to buy tubes for this batten?

No. The LEDs are built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy separately and no starter or ballast to worry about when you wire it in.

Will it go where an old 5ft fluorescent batten was?

It is a 5ft fitting at 1500mm long and mounts to the surface of a ceiling or wall, so it usually covers the same run, though old fixing centres rarely line up exactly.

Can I run it from a dimmer?

No. The specification lists it as not dimmable, so it needs an ordinary switched circuit; a dimmer plate can cause flicker, buzzing or early failure of the driver.

What does the emergency function actually do?

It keeps the fitting lit from an internal battery when the mains supply is lost. The manufacturer does not state the rated duration, so check that before specifying it against a required period.

What does 4000K light look like in use?

It is a cool white, brighter and crisper than the warm yellow of a living room bulb, which is why it is the usual choice for garages, workshops and storage areas.

Is 7800 lumens too much for a small room?

Probably, yes. This output is meant for large or long spaces served by one fitting; for a small utility room a lower wattage single batten is an easier fit.
