Description

The PowerMaster 5ft 25W LED emergency batten is a 1524mm weatherproof fitting with integrated 25W LED delivering 2800lm at 4000K cool white, plus emergency backup lighting that activates during mains power failure. The IP65-rated polycarbonate diffuser and housing resist dust and water ingress, making the batten suitable for industrial warehouses, garages, outdoor covered areas and food preparation environments where both weather resistance and emergency illumination are required.

Designed for ceiling or wall mounting in commercial and industrial settings, the batten uses non-corrosive stainless steel mounting clips that resist rust in damp conditions. The 120° beam angle provides wide, even light distribution across walkways, storage areas and workspaces. In emergency mode the internal battery pack maintains illumination during power cuts, meeting UK building regulations for maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting in escape routes and exit areas.

The integrated LED runs at 120 lumens per watt efficiency, reducing energy consumption compared to fluorescent tube battens. The 4000K cool white output sits between neutral and daylight tones, providing crisp visibility for tasks requiring colour accuracy and inspection work. The NCF (non-corrosive fitting) designation refers to the stainless steel clips and weatherproof construction suited to environments with moisture, temperature variation or corrosive atmospheres.

How does the emergency function work?

The batten contains an internal battery pack that charges from mains power. When mains power fails, the battery activates and maintains illumination for a minimum of three hours (exact duration depends on the specific emergency mode selected during installation). The fitting can be wired for maintained (always on) or non-maintained (only lights during power failure) operation.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoor locations?

The IP65 rating means the batten is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3 (not zone 0, which is inside the bath or shower tray). It can also be used outdoors under covered areas such as carports, canopies and loading bays where it is sheltered from direct rainfall accumulation.

What mounting options are available?

The batten mounts via the stainless steel clips on either ceiling or wall surfaces. Fixing holes are typically spaced at both ends of the 1524mm length, requiring secure fixing points approximately 1.5m apart on joists, battens or masonry.

Is the light output equivalent to a fluorescent tube batten?

The 2800lm output at 25W is comparable to a twin 4ft fluorescent tube batten (2 x 36W = 72W total), but the PowerMaster uses approximately one-third of the energy. The 4000K cool white is similar in tone to standard cool white fluorescent tubes.
