Description

This is a 4ft LED batten, 1200mm end to end, drawing 42W and giving out 4800 lumens of 4000K cool white light. The LEDs are built into the fitting, so there is no tube to buy now and none to source in five years. It is rated IP65, and it carries an emergency function, which means it keeps giving light if the mains supply fails. Those three things together, the length, the sealing and the emergency gear, are what separate it from a plain indoor batten on a bracket.

A 4ft run is the standard length for garages, workshops, plant rooms, stores and utility corridors, and 4800 lumens is a working level of light rather than a background one. The 4000K colour sits between the yellow cast of warm white and the blue of daylight, so it reads clean and neutral, which suits a space where the job is to see what you are doing. IP65 describes two separate things: the first digit means the body is fully sealed against dust, and the second means it withstands water jets from any direction.
